Mysore Rasam


Ingredients:


Moong Dal -- 1 cup
Tamarind pulp -- 1/2 cup or Lemon --1
Tomatoes -- 4
Mysore Rasam Powder -- 3 table spoons
Red Chili Powder -- 1 tea spoon
Salt -- to taste
Jeera -- 1 tea spoon
Mustard seeds -- 1/2 teaspoon
Hing(Asafetida) -- 1/4 teaspoon
Turmeric -- 1 teaspoon
Coconut grated-- 1 tablespoon(optional)
Curry leaves -- 5
Coriander -- 1 table spoon
Green Chili -- 1
Oil-- 1 tablespoon
Ghee -- 1 tablespoon
Water

Preparation:

First boil moong dal ,mash it well like smooth paste and keep aside.

Now take a pan, keep it on medium flame pour 1 table spoon of oil. After oil got heat add chopped   tomatoes. When tomatoes cooked half add tamarind pulp ,boiled dal,1/2 teaspoon Turmeric, Red chili  powder,Salt,Hing and Mysore rasam powder (If you like you can add grated coconut).If required add water to get  your required rasam consistency , Stir well and keep this on flame till it is boiling ,then switch off flame and close it with lid.(If you want Lemon instead of Tamarind, don't add tamarind pulp while following above process and add Lemon Juice after you off the flame).
Now take a small pan ,keep it on low flame and add ghee. After it got heat add Jeera,Mustard seeds. While mustard seeds popping add 1 green chili by cut in middle , half red chili, Curry leaves,1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Coriander and pinch of Hing. After a minute take it from flame and add this to Rasam you prepared.
Now Tasty Mysore Rasam is Ready, It is Nice with Rice,Idli ,Vada and Dosa.
